This browser-based interface captures a live camera feed and maintains its rolling 60-second buffer. Both streams (the live present and rolling 60-seconds past) are rendered as ASCII grids and merged into a single output. Characters from the past and the present compete for the same cells. On each frame, collisions either overwrite a cell or distort it according to fixed rules.
The prototype is based on a non-linear understanding of our memory over time. Memory is not a static storage where we could just simply store the present moment and retrieve the past intact. Remembering is reconstructive, each recall reshapes the past under present conditions. And the act of remembering also feeds back into the present. This prototype models that bidirectional feedback within 60-seconds time window.
